OK, nevermind I figured out what the problem was.  What I was trying to 
encode (Spiderman, chapter 3) for some reason was selecting a null audio 
track or something ( I noticed that when I just tried to play the 
chapter, the video played but no audio).  I had to explicitly select an 
audio track.  Go figure...
