I'm afraid I'm useless with IE, haven't used it in a long time. AFAIK it doesn't have per-protocol settings. My best recommendation is this: your rstp stream likely has an extension, probably ".ra" or ".ram" or something close. You'll have to set VLC to be default in opening these file types from Windows Explorer. I mean, rename a file .ra (or whatever your stream extension is), right click, go to open with, select VLC and check the "always" box. That ought to do it for IE, but again I don't have a Windows box nearby to test it.
<br><br>I can help with other browsers, and they are easier to configure (IMO):<br><br>For Mozilla based applications type "about:config" in your browser, right click go to new > string. Name the string "
network.protocol-handler.app.rtsp" and set the value to "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\VLC.exe" or whatever path you use for VLC (I use /usr/bin/vlc).
<font size="2"><code></code></font>I don't have an rstp stream handy to retest it, but I've used this in the past, it works well. You may also have to add a boolean named "network.protocol-handler.external.rtsp
" as true, but usually not.
<br><br>Firefox also seems to largely obey system defaults, so the top suggestion (for IE) will probably also work in FF. <br><br>In Opera the setting is in Preferences > Advanced > Programs. There you'll see the protocols and their associated programs.
<br><br>If you want help with Konqueror, I can also help there too, but if you need more help with IE, I'm afraid someone else will have to fill in. <br><br>Sean Giambattista<br><br><br><div><span class="gmail_quote">

I would set up Opera to open rtsp://... links with VLC but my friend might have his browser set to open them with RealPlayer, etc.
