If the plan is to drop Windows Me/98/95 support with 0.9.0, there will be some whining if there won't be security fixes for 0.8.6 anymore (I won't complain but I am sure some organizations will flag VLC 0.8.6 unsafe after first Secunia issue will come that won't be fixed and there will be at least one post to Windows forum).

For future I suggest that someone will give Microsoft/Ubuntu style promises about support lifetime for different builds. Because many companies use VLC and they like to know which version is supported and how long. This will also make sure that next time there won't be me posting something like this to mailing list =)
