The pattern if any is that some developers rejects or complains about
an alleged issue with a patch, and the author of the patch takes it
personally and leaves. There has been various reasons why the developer
prefers to leave than fix the code, typically a combination of lack of
time, money and/or skill.

That often involves me because I am grumpy, demanding and more active
reviewer. I would very Very VERY gladly stop doing ungrateful unpaid
reviews and hand over the responsibility to someone or accept salary for
it (so I'm no longer grumpy about it). But I don't think that is
realistic. And we cannot really remove reviews, lest the code base will
go technically bankrupt in no time. So while there is arguably a
pattern, I don't really see what to make of it.

Keep in mind that while we are short on developers, we are probably
even shorter on reviewers. I believe loosing candidate developers is a
steep but hardly avoidable price to pay in open-source community-based
software development.

In this specific case, I think Adrien over-interpreted, and overreacted
to, the thread (not that I could blame people for overreacting).

Br,
