<div>Hi,</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I recompile VLC for my projects needs. The last time I did it was around a year ago for 0.9.4 using Cygwin. I just did some tries with Cygwin with the 1.0.0 sourdes using the latest guide and I am running into some problems. But after reading the guidelines on the developer's wiki I see that Cygwin is the least prefered method and I am open to changing methods for 1.0.0. Last year I used Cygwin because I had no knowledge of Linux and no easy access to Linux, Since last year I have started using Linux Ubuntu under VirtualBox for other projects and finally gained some experience on Linux. So here are a few questions:</div>

<div> </div>
<div>1. Although I am thinking of moving away from Cygwin, I can send the error messages I get and steps I have taken in an effort to help in ironing out the problems so the guide can be updated if needed even if I will probably choose another route than Cygwin. That is if it is of interest to Jean-Baptiste Kempf, the author of the guide, I will try anything you need and report with problems or success.</div>

<div> </div>
<div>2. I see on the the wiki that the prefered method is cross compiling on Linux. Which, with my newly gained experience on Linux, seems to be the way to go. Unfortunatly there is no guide available on the wiki. Am I better off going the MSYS route since for that there is documentation? Is it easy enough to figure things out on Ubuntu that it would be doable for me?</div>

<div> </div>
<div>3. I imagine that in addition to cross compiling for Windows, if I would also compile for Linux native (which has a guide for) I would be in a better position to debug any stuff I am adding.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Thanks for your input,</div>
