<div dir="ltr">Hi,<br><br>I'm Abhinav Aswin, a student interested in the Advanced Audio Filters project for GSoC 2026.<br><br>I've been contributing to the audio_filter module recently:<br>- !8591: fix realloc() missing sizeof(float) in chorus_flanger (approved by maintainer)<br>- !8596: fix linear interpolation in chorus_flanger delay buffer<br>- !8583: use add_bool for bargraph and silence options<br><br>While working on these, I've been studying VLC's audio filter architecture and I'm particularly interested in implementing a stereo to 5.1 upmix filter for GSoC 2026 — similar to Prologic-II matrix decoding. This would allow VLC users with 5.1 speaker setups to get a proper surround experience from stereo content.<br><br>I believe this fits well within the Advanced Audio Filters project scope mentioned on the GSoC ideas page, specifically the upmixing task.<br><br>Could the mentor (unidan) or anyone familiar with the project share thoughts on this direction? I'd like to align my proposal with the team's priorities before writing the full proposal.<br><br>Thank you for your time and for the feedback on my MRs.<br><br>Best regards,<br>Abhinav Aswin<br>GitLab: <a href="https://code.videolan.org/abhinav_04">https://code.videolan.org/abhinav_04</a></div>
