[vlc] VLC 1.0.1

I have tried now several times to install VLC media player version 1.0.1 on my computer running Vista Home Premium edition and it refuses to do so.  I have had to reinstall 1.0.0.  I have used VLC for years on many previous versions and so do not believe that there is something wrong with my system and that it must be something wrong with the download.  Version 1.0.0 reinstalled perfectly at the first attempt.
Any ideas?
