checked a latest VLC build, plus 0.8.4a, using Win XP Home Edition, SP2.
Both a generic USB Webcam and an Osprey PCI framegrabber are working fine.
This tells me that VLC is generally "playing nice" with DirectShow
devices. If your USB capture device is DirectShow, it should be
OK.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>

whatever directshow control panel the vendor has made available for the device

device, a video window appears. If this doesn't happen, go back through
