Hello,

Forgive me if this is directed to the wrong forum since it is not really a streaming question.
Kindly direct me to the proper list after reading my mail.

I am about to setup a TV channel
or actually I have setup one but I am not satisfied with what we do.

Let me explain what we are doing:

We have Studios, TV equipment, Non linear editing equipment (Linux), a Linux Server that is connected through the video output to a Cable TV network which is broadcasting our channel Locally in Sri Lanka.

On the Linux Server we run the programs with the command:
gmplayer -fs -playlist <filename>
this will send the output to the video card which is connected to the Cable TV Network.

My problem is that I feel my video card is not having quality enough and my sound card is not having quality enough.
It works, and on an analog system no one can see the drop in quality.
But by next month everything is going digital and I feel my quality will have to be upgraded.

I would like to ask you if any of you have any idea
which Video card I should buy
and what sound card I should buy.
to run a setup like this.

I presume you all would advice me to run the VLC player instead of mplayer
great,
what would be my command line for a setup like that ?
I run the player from crontab.

regards
Mettavihari

--
Streaming video from
