Hi!  I'm a newbie who needs help on what sounds like it ought to be

a simple matter.  I've searched the documentation and FAQs as much

as I could and found no clues.<br><br>

I assumed VLC would in this aspect work similarly to a DVD player. 

You start the DVD,perhaps go thru some copyright or other messages, and

eventually get to the DVD's main menu - Play the Movie, Scene Index,

Sub-titles, etc - where it waits for you to click on a choice.<br><br>

That's in fact what happens for me - VLC brings up the DVD's own menu and

waits for a selection.  But I can't make it move ahead. Clicking on

"Play" or "Languages" or whatever does nothing.

Effectively the movie freezes up at the menu screen.  After a while

it automatically begins cycling slowly thru the first layer of sub-menus,

but there's still no apparent way for one to choose any of 

them.<br><br>

I can get around the problem by using VLC to directly play the first VOB

file of the movie, but that's only because I know something about DVD

file structures, not because VLC documentation told me to do that and

explained how.  In my opinion that makes playing a movie in

VLC  unnecessarily unintuitive and complicated. <br><br>

Is there not some setting or menu approach that allows one to do the

natural thing and use the DVD's own menu from inside VLC?
