I am guessing this was done so you can integrate it with OpenCaster; I think
using the UDP receiver tool in OpenCaster and setting the route for the
multicast address you are sending to with DVBlast to point to the loopback
interface is a better option (and will probably perform better too).

I will look at merging your edit with the one I am doing to enable IPv6
support, as they change the same files.
