I would rather say: no clean API for interface development (for the moment
at least).

Can't really answer these questions as I'm not involved in vls development.
But I guess one advantage of vls could be that it is more lightweight than
vlc and thus should be more efficient at what it does. It could also be
more stable for the same reason, althought I'm not exactly sure it is ;)
