VLC-0.6.1  will  have  a   totally  redesigned  subtitle  module,  using
freetype. That means  that VLC should be able to  use any font supported
by  this system  (including ttf  fonts). I  think (not  sure that)  this
module should then be able to  display such subtitles, provided you have
the required font.

However, I  think this haven't  been tested  on non latin  languages. We
would be very interested in feedback  on that new feeture with non latin
languages.
