Mmm......
Your suggestion  is great.
VLC is also a great media player (client).
But, as far as I know, MPlayer already supported  many kinds of 
codec.(included some win32 codecs, even qtx )
(even though I don't know if the sources of these codecs came from 
against some kinds of law. )
VLC seems not supported  as many as codecs that MPlayer did.
But  as I tried these days, VLC is best player I've ever use.(without 
regarding the codecs quantity )
