Processing speed and ram is not the important factor here, the most
important thing is disk access times.

THe machine you suggest is (imho) way over spec'd just for streaming,
you will need lots of fast disks though to be able to handle 100
concurrent unicast streams.

Why would you want that many anyway? Why not multicast them?

Subject: [streaming] Performance Question

Hi,

I am newbie to Videolan.

My Question is:
How many performance to I need to do f.e. 100 Unicast Streams on Lan?

Is a Dual-Xeon with 2 Gig RAM and Gigabit Ethernet enough?

Please reply to my emailadress.

Thanks,
Dirk Wahrheit
