As far as I know, vlc is able to stream HDTV streams... although I'm not
sure it  has been  tested... It  is able  to decode  it quite  well too,
provided you have enough power to make so...

DVDs  cannot provide  HDTV  streams,  they're made  to  fit standard  TV
requirements. Don't know where to find any HDTV stream.
