Hi,

just thought I'd report success with the following setup:
 * i386 Linux 2.4.20
 * bt878 TV capture card
 * streaming using mpeg4 video and ac3 audio
 * vls CVS with the attached vls.diff applied
   the patch fixes paths in the lexer code, and a really dodgy fix for the
   environment passed to execve (probably only works with glibc headers, not a
   real solution! I just hacked it because environ wasn't defined)
 * vlc CVS with the attached vlc.diff applied
   the patch makes vlc recognise the mpeg4 stream types, I posted it
   previously to vlc-devel but didn't get any reply

The main reason I'm reporting this is that vls spits out:
Only mp2 compression is supposed to work for the moment !
... but ac3 definitely also works for me.

hth,
Andrew
