[streaming] Playout buffer in VLC

Hi,

How do I enable a buffer on the client side so that it buffers
some video before playing it? I searched the list archive and
found one response that said to use '--udp-caching <integer>'
for this. Is this still the right way to enable a playout
buffer?

I am using VLC to demonstrate video over a wireless network
(it is a great app, thanks!). My network has more than enough
bandwidth but the movie on the client is very jerky. I am using
UDP to stream the video but I have link-level retries so
even if a packet is lost it will be re-transmitted (at the
wireless layer).

I feel that enabling a buffer will solve this problem.

Thanks,
Harshal
