Encoder help.

Which program should I use to encode to a VLC supported (mpeg4 ?) file. The
input is from a PVR-250 card.

I have the card working (some times ;-)

Now I use: ‘cat /dev/video0 > home/test.file.mpg’ and I open this file with
VLC and stream it.
Or: ‘cat /dev/video0 | vlc -vvv - --sout udp:235.0.0.1 --ttl 12’

How do I encode the streamed file. (I’ve tried encoding with VLC, with poor
results).

Now I just stream the file from the PVR-250 card. If I view the file in VLC
without streaming it looks fine, but if I stream it and view it on the VLC
client the resolution is bad, howcome???? (I have more than enough bandwith)

Thanks,
Christian
