wow, that is behind my scope. In fact, this record.pl script was the
first time me using "fork/exec" - if i had known that vlc could be
talked to on stdin i would probably just have used
"open(VLC,"|vlc --someoptions");
:-) but i'm still learning. Another small thing i programmed last
weekend was a "video on demand-server", which reads a channel name from
stdin and then starts "vls -d udp:@address dvb:"Channel Name" since
i could avoid digging through the telnet interface of vls and also avoided
a strange VLS lockup which occured after a lot of DVB channel switching.
This must happen since my wife and kids are using this system to watch
and record TV and i am often away from home :-))

Well, maybe we could get together a bunch of useful tools which could
go into some sort of contrib directory, so not everyone has to start
over from scratch when inventing new innovative uses of videoLAN :-)
