[streaming] Status of debian packages?

Hello!

I am wondering what the status of debian packages is.

The howto and the user manuals state that only woody and sid are supported
and there are no plans to support sarge.  I find this somewhat confusing:
sarge is much more stable than sid.

Given the fact that current source don't compile on woody, the only option
for users is to go with sid.  But sid is unstable (that is: broken by
intention).

The debian project is currently working towards stabilizing sarge and make
it the stable distribution.  Maybe this is the time to start supporting
sarge?
