Actually, by saying that we don't support sarge, we mean that we cannot
guarantee which version of VLC will be in Sarge.
Actually, it's not really a question of Woody/Sarge but rather
Stable/Testing.
Given the fact that testing is dynamically built, we cannot be sure that
our latest version will be included.
The latest version of VLC is always in unstable (sometimes with a few
days delay), and sometimes, it gets into testing after the 10 days delay
(http://www.debian.org/devel/testing). But the problem is that VLC has a
huge number of dependencies, and it's often hard to get all of them
if testing, which prevents VLC from entering. For example, when unstable
was at 0.7.0, testing was blocked at 0.3.something.
