[streaming] streaming AVI's

Hello!

I wrote a small ftp-server, that responds to a 'get' with a certain AVI (without respect to the file, requested by the user). So I can serve a specific film on the LAN and nobody needs to know the film's name.

Now I use VLC to connect to this tiny ftp server which works fine! :) I simply open ftp://192.168.0.15 and the currently served film is played!

The only thing that I think is a little anoying is that there is no progress bar, when playing a streamed AVI from the LAN.
MPG's work fine (with progress bar) and AVI's from the local HDD work fine as well.

I know, the frame data of an AVI is located at the end of the file. But why don't you request the frame data first and then play the film using the frame data? This way a progress bar would be possible, I think...
