It depends what you're talking about. AFAIK there is no such thing as 
a standardized driver interface for ASI cards under Linux, as there 
is linuxtv.org API for DVB-S/C/T. So the question should be rephrased 
"does VLC support particular driver xxx for ASI card yyy".

I have only experience with cards from computermodules.com, and I 
suppose that if you issue the appropriate ioctls to configure the 
driver to right packet size, you should be able to read from 
/dev/asirx0 directly.
