Just curious -- what do you mean by reliable multicast? UDP multicast is
inherently a one-way, non-acked mechanism. Do you mean to add forward error
correction wrappers, or something similar?

Subject: [streaming] Reliable multicast

Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the best list to be mailing to but I need to start
somewhere! For a university project I'm trying to implement a reliable
multicast library for videolan, specifically vlc. However, the developer
docs for vlc, especially streaming, are a bit sparse. I've been told that I
can make a module and put it in access_out, along with udp.c etc. Will this
work? Or do I need to do some other things? I'm concentrating on making the
server before I attempt the receiver which will be more difficult.
Any responses much appreciated!
Rob
