Because MPEG TS is designed for streaming.  If it's good enough for 
Hughes (DirecTV), Dish, and every digital cable system in the US, it's 
good enough for me.

I assume you mean raw video?

- 2 bytes per pixel (4:2:0 YUV color compression)
- 720 pixels per line
- 480 scan lines
- 30 fields per second

2 bytes * 8 bits/byte * 720 * 480 * 30 f/s = 158 Mbit/s
