VLC should be able to play MPEG 2/4/AVC HDTV streams (even WMV3 on
windows). The required CPU power to decode these kind of streams of
something like an Athlon XP 2200+ for MPEG2 1080i. Keep in mind that
such streams can have a very high bitrate (20 Mbit/s for MPEG2 1080i,
which is too much for 802.11g).
