Well, Videolan's sorfware are distributes under the terms of the gpl.
For answers to frequent questions on this license (and particularly on
the issue you have here), I advise you to have a look at the FAQ edited
by the Free software fundation :

Particularly, the section "Distribution of programs released under the
GPL" should interest you.
Basically, you can sell a GPL software, but you must provide a copy of
the text of the GPL along, and either supply the code source of the
program and of its dependancies, or offer to send them per ordinary mail
upon request.
