In VLS there is a plugin framework for implementing forward, backward 
playing. A dummy module is implemented, but it really doesn't do 
anything. The reason why no new plugins for forward,backward were 
implemented is because the development of VLS has been discontinued.

Everybody is advised to look at VLC instead. VLC media player is not 
only a DVD player but also a multimedia streamer.
