Well...
Your home computer will act as the streaming server.
There are two scenarii :
1) Your home computer is directly connected to the Internet : you must
configure the output stream to HTTP on any port you want (because of
some ISPs I would prefer the port 80) for the address part, you can
leave it blank, VLC will then listen an all the active interfaces of the
box. You must find out your public IP address : ifconfig (*nix) or
ipconfig(win32). Then from your work, all you will have to do is to open
a network stream in VLC and type :
http://your_public_internet_address:port
2) Your home computer is behind NAT / Firewall : you must use the same
VLC configuration but you will have to add Router and/or Firewall rules
to redirect/allow connection on the port you'll have chosen. If you have
a router, you must redirect the TCP traffic of the port you have chosen
to the streaming computer.
