[streaming] Integrated iSight Camera (USB) + VLC/VLS under Mac OS X

I want to stream video from VLC or VLS using my integrated iSight
camera on my Intel-based Mac. The camera is USB based and many
applications under Mac OS X can access the camera, but seemingly, not
VLC.

Is there any additional information available about this? Some kind
of workaround? Is it possible? Not currently possible? Something
under development? There are - literally - millions of Macs out there
with integrated iSight cameras running Mac OS X.

If Mac OS X won't work, I have considered Linux for these purposes.
Apparently, Video4Linux can utilize the internal iSight camera and
pipe it into VLC. However, that would be extremely unwieldy solution,
even with virtualization.

Any thoughts?
