[streaming] long pauses between clips

Hi, this is my first message to the list. I'm trying stream playlists MPEG2
transport stream clips at SD resolution over raw UDP on a GB network.
I use VLC to generate the streaming slaved to the main application,
controlling it by it's telnet interface. At the correct moments I start the
playback and then use the enqueue command to continue feeding the playlist
(while a clip is being played I enqueue the next one and so on). So far so
good.
The streaming goes OK all the time except for an annoying detail: there's
long delays between the clips. One or two seconds, I guess. Given that some
of the clips are quite short (around 10 seconds), two seconds is a
noticeable pause that I would like to minimize as much as possible.
So the questions to any caritative soul out there are:
- Is there any way I could make disappear the gap between the clips?
- If not, is there any way I can help VLC so the gap is shorter?
- I hoped that queueing the clips in advance would allow them to be
preloaded and ready to be played when the previous one ends, but that seems
not to be happening, isn't it? Why not? Is that possible?
Thanks!
MRC
