Actually, it will help me (sorry to disagree ;-).

As it will offer me hints as to how to 'hack' other RTSP messages (I would have used the verb 'hook'). And it will show me to what SET in the VLC structures to note the end of stream (note this message isn't the same as an RTSP BYE because it closes down all streams - e.g. video and audio - I THINK).

Anyhow - even if it turns out not to help, I thank you anyhow for the feedback and insight.
