The VideoLAN team is proud to announce version 0.0.1 of libdvdcss.
libdvdcss is the cross-platform library used by vlc, the VideoLAN
Client, to access DVDs with transparent CSS decryption. It is the first
library based on the vlc codebase, but others are planned.
Major features:
* Cross-platform. Works under Linux, BSD, Windows, BeOS.
* Simple. No useless calls, DVD authentication and CSS decryption is
done in a completely transparent way. Also, the API only has 7 exported
functions, and we hope to eventually have only 6.
* Free. Like almost all the VideoLAN codebase, it is GPLed.
The official libdvdcss page is:
http://www.videolan.org/libdvdcss/
The API reference can be found here, together with sample code:

You can download 0.2.80 via HTTP or FTP:

ftp://ftp.videolan.org/pub/videolan/libdvdcss/
To avoid useless mailing-list forking, developers are encouraged to
use the vlc mailing-lists for discussions about libdvdcss.
For the VideoLAN team,
Sam.
