The VideoLAN team is thrilled to announce version 0.4.0 of the VideoLAN
Server. This release brings major new features, including :
* Language descriptors for audio and subpicture streams,
* IPv6 multicast support,
* Many portability fixes, in particular it now works under *BSD and
Mac OS X,
* Dynamic adding of channels and programs,
* Save/restore configuration files,
* RTP output support,
* Daemon mode with syslog logging,
* Start-up script execution,
* WinTV DVB-S support,
* Embedded A/52, DVD SPU and LPCM elementary streams now have a
different stream type, to avoid a collision with streams coming from
the American television which used to same numbers differently.
Please note that VLS 0.4.0 requires VLC (VideoLAN Client) version
0.4.5 or later.
See the changelog at http://www.videolan.org/vls/changelog.html for a
complete list of the changes 0.4.0 introduces.
