I added to gtk+ interface the code for reading/writing preferences
from/to a .vlc file in
user's home.

The same can code can be used in gnome interface, but I think it would
be more appropriate to use
gnome api to write into .gnome dir.

I'm sending you the patch against vlc-0.2.90, if you find it useful can
add it to the code :)
