The build does include the module for decoding divx, as a built-in 
(which is why it doesn't show up in vlc.app/Contents/MacOS/modules) :

-bash-2.05b$ ./vlc.app/Contents/MacOS/vlc -l | grep ffmpeg
VideoLAN Client 0.5.0-cvs Natalya
   ffmpeg                ffmpeg audio/video decoder((MS)MPEG4,SVQ1,H263,WMV,WMA)
