I got now a compilation error under BeOS (both 5.0 and 5.1d0):

types for `input_FDNetworkRead'
/boot/home/Desktop/vlc/include/input_ext-plugins.h:324: previous 
declaration of `input_FDNetworkRead'
make: *** [src/input/input_ext-plugins.o] Error 1
