vout_dummy crashes

When I try to play my Tomb Raider DVD using the dummy vout plugin vlc crashes 
after playing for 25sec saying "INPUT_MAX_ALLOCATION reached (21037056)" 
followed by a segfault. 

Can anyone tell why this is happening? Is this a bug in the dummy module or am 
I using it wrong? If it is a bug, what is wrong?
