[vlc-devel] Re: [ANN] VLC 0.6.0 -Problem under RH7.3

Thanks for the quick response, but I am confused here. We had version
VLC0.5.3 which I was able to compile and link without problem. If it is a
third party add-on library, I presume nothing has changed, hence with
logical conclusion I assume that it should compile with the new release
(unless I am missing something). But your script now looks for version
higher than 0.3.2.

By the way, I cannot find the libmpeg2 library - the only distribution I can
find from http://libmpeg2.sf.net/ site is an application mpeg2dec
application which has the library embedded into it.

I have reported this error to libmpeg2 and till I get a response I am kind
of stuck (pity - I have downloaded windows version and it behaves extremely
well - well done).

I wonder if anybody else with RH7.3 is experiencing this problem.

Kind regards
Simon

Please report this to libmpeg2 :p

Anyway, you don't have to compile the whole mpeg2dec.
Just run make in libmpeg2/ then configure VLC with
--with-libmpeg2-tree=/path/to/mpeg2dec/sources/
