IPv6 multicast does not use IGMP messages but everything has been 
integrated in the icmp6 protocol.

Could you use tcpdump to check for icmp6 messages when pressing play
and stop.
If they are not sent, try to upgrade your kernel.

On my Debian/unstable + linux 2.4.20, those messages are sent.
