ffmpeg is not being replaced by libmpeg2. VLC's own mpeg1/2 decoder was
replaced with the libmpeg2 one.
ffmpeg takes care of DivX among others, so we would not soon replace
that. It's also decodes Sorenson v3 (Quicktime movies ) since a week,
so it definitely stays.
Currently you need the following configure line to build VLC by hand
./configure --disable-x11 --disable-xvideo --disable-gtk --disable-sdl
--disable-wxwindows --enable-ffmpeg --enable-mad --enable-libdvbpsi
--enable-a52 --enable-dvdplay --enable-faad --enable-vorbis
--enable-ogg --enable-theora --enable-faac --with-included-gettext
--enable-debug
I don't think much changed. libmpeg2 will be auto dectected and always
compiled.
