VLC 0.5.3


Hej, VLC-Developers!

Althouh this might not be a bug concerning VLC directly, I hope I'm not=20=

completely wrong with my issue...

I am trying to play a certain type of .wav audio files (8bit, 8kbit/s,=20=

A-law compressed - I get those from my telco's UM system; see attached=20=

sample!) on my Mac machine (on Windows there's no problem).
Not a chance with Quicktime, Real One or other freeware tools, the=20
codec is not recognised. So I had a try with VLC, my "Swiss army knife"=20=

for multimedia jobs, which was at least not complete without success.=20
First it looks like the file can be handeled, but then I get the error=20=

"wav: cannot find "data" tag".

Could it be that my sound clips are not complete wellformed? Is there=20
something like a quick fix to play this sort of files anyway? Thanks a=20=
