[vlc-devel] Do we need Platform SDK

I am trying to compile and build plugin_vout_directx_files.
I assume this is required to display video on windows machine.
Do I need platform SDK in my machine to build this?
Or is there any ther method to do it?

How the VLC 0.7.2 is build? I downloaded the source code from the site.
Is that the same source code used for the .exe downloadable from site or it needs
some change?

Please help with your suggestions.

Thanks & Regs,
Raks

I build VLC removing the following plugins.

1. plugin_access_http
2. plugin_access_output_udp
3. plugin_float32_mixer
4. plugin_hotkeys
5. plugin_mp4
6. plugin_mux_ts
7. plugin_vout_directx
8. plugin_wave_out

Are these plugins required to demux TS file and decode and playback ac3 audio and mpeg2 video?

After building I tried to run VLC with a sample file. The file didn't playback.
I got the following messages on the console.
Any idea what these mean?

[00000058] dummy interface: VLC media player - version 0.7.2 Bond - (c) 1996-200
4 VideoLAN
[00000058] dummy interface:
Warning: if you can't access the GUI anymore, open a dos command box, go to the
directory where you installed VLC and run "vlc -I wxwin"

[00000058] dummy interface: Using the dummy interface module...
[00000059] main input: playlist item `c:\ski.mpg'
[00000061] main decoder error: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `mpgv'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.
[00000062] mpeg_audio decoder: MPGA channels:2 samplerate:48000 bitrate:256
[00000063] main audio output error: couldn't find a filter for the conversion
[00000063] main audio output error: couldn't set an input pipeline

It doesn't say it isn't possible, it says that it is a pain in the ass so we
don't support that. But with some tweaking on your part it should work.
It also tells you why your debugger doesn't work properly.
