In share/vlc_win32_rc.rc, delete lines 15&16:
PRODUCTVERSION VERSION_NUMBER
FILEVERSION VERSION_NUMBER

Otherwise, if you install subversion, download the developer base set, that
compiles clean (no hand edits needed).

Anyhow, I am now getting this for the last two snapshots:
