[vlc-devel] Client authentication (user name,password) dialog support?

Are there any plans to add a client authentication dialog - asking for a 
user name and password - whenever a VLC user tries to play an 
access-controlled stream (either HTTP or RTSP)?

Note that the LIVE.COM library already supports RTSP access control, using 
digest authentication.  It just needs a way for the GUI to give it a user 
name and password.  (It is already possible to play access-controlled RTSP 
streams by using an URL of the form 
"rtsp://<username>:<password>@host/file", but this causes the password to 
get sent over the net in the clear.)
