As Clément explains, I doubt Ubuntu was using the KDE-specific 
interface, and I hope other distributions don't do it.

Also, with gtk2-engines-gtk-qt, VLC wxWidgets interface looks just like 
any KDE application, if one wants to keep an uniform look & feel.
