In this case I propose a new rule. platform specific patches in  
contrib/src/Patches should get their platformname appended.
Also, we can probably do some cleaning up in the scripts, because  
it's starting to get a bit more ugly with so many dependencies and  
platforms (and crossplatforms :D ).

AndIi have an idea for the download urls. we can implement a fallback  
system.
We would spilt PACKAGE_URL into PACKAGE_LOCATION and PACKAGE_NAME
Then we can build two URLs. PACKAGE_VLURL (from videolanservers) and  
PACKAGE_ORGURL (original source).
we could then try to download first from the original location. if it  
fails, we can try our own server.

and I would like to add a "download-first" mode where all packages  
are downloaded before we commence compiling anything.
