  There's actually a circular dependency (see "Installation" at 
http://www.gnu.org/software/libiconv/), although each one can be built 
without the other. Do we really care whether libiconv is built with 
gettext support or not? Because gettext definitely requires libiconv to 
be built first in order to correctly output UTF-8 translated strings.
