Yes.
Normal recording. Select Stream Output. Pick "File", type in a valid
filename and container format. If you wish to stay mtpeg, perhaps use
"myfile.asf", and Encapsulation method ASF. If you are willing to transcode
(change the video codec format), then there are many possibilities --
there's a table about streaming features of VLC that lists most valid
combinations of container and codecs.
